Jeremy Small


Jeremy Small is a highly respected governance expert who brings over 30 years of experience as a Company Secretary to the Independent Audit team and deep experience with the financial services sector and regulation.

He brings a wide-ranging technical, commercial and international background and is known for his excellent stakeholder management connecting people and ideas to help organisations thrive.

Prior to joining Independent Audit, Jeremy was Group Company Secretary at AXA UK and Royal London Mutual Insurance Society, and previously held senior Company Secretarial roles at The BOC Group and Forte.  Most recently, he was Interim Company Secretary of GSK’s consumer healthcare business, developing a new governance framework and establishing a new Corporate Secretariat in preparation for listing in London and New York later in 2022.

Jeremy is a Chartered Secretary with extensive experience of all aspects of corporate governance including the creation and implementation of governance frameworks, and the recruitment of Chairs and NEDs in regulated groups. He has been an independent non-executive director of a pharmaceutical joint venture, was a member of the CBI Companies Committee for 10 years, and was also a pension trustee for 13 years. He is a frequent speaker on governance matters and is a member of the Chartered Governance Institute’s Company Secretaries Forum.
