Technology Committee or not?

Technology Committee or not?

Until now a board Technology Committee has typically been for businesses with technology as a fundamental part of their offering. For other companies, quite understandably, there has been a reluctance to introduce yet another board committee.

But has the situation now changed? With the increasingly pervasive presence of AI, the ever-changing cyber risks, and the way digitalisation underpins so many processes, transactions and interactions, is it time for a rethink across many boards? And even if you stick with what you have, boards and committees may need to undergo a fundamental change to agendas, discussions and expertise to make sure the ground is covered.

In this month’s Bulletin we take a look at some of the things a board should be doing – and what they should avoid, including:

  • Understanding AI, its opportunities and risks and how directors need to boost their understanding
  • How to respond as a board to cyber threats by being equipped to ask the right questions
  • What’s needed to oversee transformation programmes.
