Strategy is at the heart of what boards do. At least agreeing the strategic direction – and then overseeing execution and making strategic decisions. Despite this, though, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that one of the most common complaints we hear in board reviews is “we don’t spend enough time on strategy”.

When we start to unpack this, there can be lots of different angles, each pointing to ways in which the board could work better. In this month’s bulletin we aim to do some of that unpacking, setting out some good practices and some pitfalls to avoid.
